Mortar at Rutgers
A large mortar hand-shaped by the Lenape as much as 4,000 years ago is on display in the Snyder Teaching Garden at Rutgers Research Farm on Locust Grove Road near Quakertown. The artifact was discovered in a tributary of the Capoolong Creek by members of Rural Awareness. An informative plaque explains its use. Debra Nase, a Lenape descendant, sits by the mortar.
